1 Electrolux EW30ES65GS 30″ Electric Slide-In Range with Wave-Touch® Controls and Luxury-Glide® Oven Rac, Stainless SteelElectrolux EW30ES65GS 30 Electric Slide-In Range with Wave-Touch I purchased this oven over three months ago for my newly built home. I love my oven. It has a great design, lots of very cool features like dehydrate and perfect turkey options. My favorite is the built in thermometer, I no longer have to guess if or when my meats are done, with a touch of the button it shows me on the screen what temperature my meat is. I would have to disagree with the previous reviews that the ceramic top is not hard to clean compare to any other ceramic top. Yes it takes me about 3 minutes after each cooking to scrub it good and I am a messy cook… and when I mean scrubs I mean I cook with oils, butter, wine, spilled water/milk, bacon grease cooked on and all. I would recommend anyone who purchases this item to read the instruction manual from front to back, FULLY, and follow all cleaning/maintenance instructions, it will save you from damaging the cook top by using inappropriate cleaning agents as well as save you headaches from guessing the operating instruction… After all this oven is highly sophisticated in technology and not your grandmother’s oven. Only complaint that I have is the bottom over drawer does take a while to heat up, however, if you are like who uses both oven a couple time a year, it shouldn’t be a problem.
2 Frigidaire FPES3085PF Professional 30″ Stainless Steel Electric Slide-In Smoothtop RangeFrigidaire FPES3085PF Professional 30 Stainless Steel Electric Slide-In Smoothtop Range I love this slide-in range!! It’s gorgeous!! I always prefer a slide-in range rather than the usual free standing one because it looks much nicer and almost gives that “built in” look into the countertop. The smooth black glass cooktop is amazing. It’s huge. It has 5 burners on it, rather than the normal 4 burners. The front burner has the option of using a single zone or a triple zone portion of the burner, which is really nice depending upon what you are cooking or how big the pan is. The inside of the oven is very big and has 3 shelves. The convection portion of the oven works great for baking. The warming tray on the bottom of the oven is great for keeping the food warm until the rest of the food is done. The only bad thing I could think to say about this is that the glass cooktop (especially in black) is really hard to clean and maintain. You have to use a special product to clean it, cerama bryte. Once you use it though, it comes out nice and shiny. As annoying as that may be, I still would have to give this 5 stars.
3 GE JS750EFES 30″ Slate Electric Slide-In Smoothtop RangeGE JS750EFES 30 Slate Electric Slide-In Smoothtop Range This is a dream of a range. The most beautiful, most versatile. Double oven. A perfect broiler while you bake french bread in the lower oven. The Perfect Turkey cooking setting roast a perfect chicken. I am looking forward for thanksgiving turkey. The look is luxurious and the features are very easy to master. In this my first week I have used it quite a bit. Boiling water for pasta is a flash. I paired it with a 400CFM Bosch range hood.

Slide-in ranges are elegant and multi-functional appliances that not only lend a custom-designed air to your kitchen but also give you multiple options for whipping up gourmet delights for guests, tasty fare for every day meals and fabulous feasts for holidays.

These ranges are designed to sit flush with your countertops and fit neatly between them, giving your kitchen the overall air of a custom-designed and constructed room even though it was not created that way originally. Typically, the cooktop of these ranges extends just a bit over the top of each side to keep crumbs from falling between your stove and the cupboard, an unpleasant bit of business that could detract from your kitchen’s cleanliness. Aesthetics are a key element for many consumers who seek slide-in ranges.

Our top-rated slide-in ranges present numerous cooking and baking options as well as looking terrific.

Slide-in ranges vary substantially as far as the types of heating sources they use, the configuration of their stovetops, the way the ovens operate and all the amenities that come with the different models on the market. Some electric slide-in ranges feature smooth, gleaming ceramic glass tops with four or five heating elements of differing sizes. On the other hand, gas fueled slide-in ranges employ grid-style burners and actual flames, which are favored by many professional chefs because they insist gas flames gives them greater heat precision while cooking.

There also are dual fuel slide-in ranges that present a gas cooktop with an electric oven for cooks who find this combination works best for them.

If you appreciate some of the characteristics of slide-in ranges, but have strong a strong preference for one heating source versus another, take a look at our Electric Range Review and our Gas Ranges Review.

Slide-In Ranges: What We Assessed, What We Found

While searching for the best slide-in ranges for our reviews, we looked closely at cooktop and oven capabilities since these are the primary functions of any stove. These features merit special attention if you want a slide-in range since these particular types of stoves present so many more options than a standard stove.
With a nicely multi-functional slide-in range, you can easily prepare different types of foods at different temperatures simultaneously.

For example, the stovetops on some excellent slide-in ranges give you several heating elements different temperatures so each pans get heated to the correct temperature for whatever ingredients you are cooking. Some slide-in ranges also have a griddle you can place on the stovetop.

This can come in handy on many occasions. If you have plenty of weekend houseguests, you can do everything at once: fry bacon in one pan, heat hash browns in another, scramble eggs in a skillet, whip up oatmeal in saucepan and still have pancakes turning golden brown on the griddle. When your guests are ready to eat, everything will be hot and ready at the same time with nothing burned and nothing undercooked.

These are sturdy kitchen appliances, but since their appearance is an important part of their appeal, cleaning the cooktop is important. In these cases, the online manual provided by the manufacturer is your friend since it will explain what to do and what to avoid to keep your stunning new stove looking great.

You can inadvertently mar the gorgeous, glossy look of a ceramic glass stovetop by using abrasive commercial cleaning products or souring the surface harshly with a rough pad. In general, manufacturers recommend specially made cleaning solutions to clear away grease and burned on food products and then gently wiping it with a soft cloth. Sometimes you can use a very sharp razor blade to softly scratch under a lump of burned on material. Some slide-in ranges come with a cooktop scraper.

Slide-in ranges with gas cooktops typically have cast iron grids on top that you can remove and clean without worrying about hurting the grids. However, the underlying area is another story and you do not want to ruin that surface since it may be an attractive brushed stainless steel or a porcelain-coated steel that you could ruin with aggressive scrubbing. Again, many manufacturers recommend particular cleaning solutions for that part of the cooktop surface. It’s best to avoid steel wood pads, any strong powdered or liquid cleaners or scouring pads. Instead, it’s best to use such things as mild soap and water and a sponge or soft cloth.

You also will want to be mindful of the pots and pans you use on your cooktop, especially if you opt for the ceramic glass variety. Ceramic, glass and earthenware cooking containers can scratch the surface, as can cast iron pans. Generally, manufacturers recommend flat-bottomed pans that fit the size of the burner and woks that do not have stands.

Another important factor we examined is how versatile a particular oven is. Some great quality slide-in ranges give you dual heating, which means the cake you just popped inside will be baked from the top and bottom. Some standard ovens emit heat only from the bottom.

An exceptional slide-in range, the Samsung NE58F9710WS, gives you “Flex Duo” temperature control capability and an oven divider that essentially transforms your slide-in range into a two-oven appliance. With these features, you can bake a pan of lasagna at one temperature on one level in the oven and a round loaf of sourdough bread at another temperature on a rack just below it.

We also looked at such things as how many oven racks are included, how many different slots you can position them into, the types of cleaning methods for self-cleaning ovens and the amount of time it will take to clean as well as whether you get such extras as a warming drawer or storage compartment.

What Else is Important in Selecting a Slide-In Range?

There are several things to evaluate when shopping for this type of stove. Here are a number of other worthwhile features that might help you decide which would be best for your kitchen, your household and your cooking preferences.

Dimensions

These are crucial and must be measured precisely because slide-in ranges are intended to do just that, slide into a cut out area in your counter space whether it is up against the wall or part of an island. If the dimensions are exact and the installation done correctly, this type of range can easily look as attractive as the far more expensive built-in ranges.

Extra Features

Since appearance is important for these appliances, we looked to see if there are different color choices, what materials the range is made of, whether a particular range has a timer and whether it is equipped a good-sized oven window to see how well the cookies or that Thanksgiving turkey are doing as they bake. Another feature we thought important for a segment of the buying public is whether a slide-in range can be put into “Sabbath mode” to keep foods hot, but in a safe fashion, for people who observe Jewish dietary laws and traditions.

Warranties & Support

Since this is a major appliance that gets daily use, we checked to see what warranties exist to back you up in the event that something goes wrong with your slide-in range. We also looked for online manual, as well as easy access to the manufacturer through email, phone or live chat. Some manufacturers provide video guides that extol the virtues of their slide-in range or describe how they operate.
